When is the best time to travel to Australia? When is the cheapest?

I lived in Australia for a few years for college. Now I want to go back and be a tourist. I would like to go to Queensland preferably and want to be there during summer months. February would be ideal but anything before or after is fine….When are the flights cheapest? I would be flying from Southern CA.

You must know the winter season there is the cheapest time of the year…

I think if you want to go to Northern Queensland, Winter months are the best, less jelly fish and the weather is not too hot.
Personally, I suggest winter time for Queensland. I think summer months are just too hot to enjoy. But winter in Queensland is summer in California, so, flight price might be more expensive from there.

Mid-season is okay, around March – May or September to November, but beware that Easter holiday (normally April) is a MAJOR holiday in Australia, price goes up during that time, and you need to book your holiday well in advance (at least one month or more before).

A good compromise, perhaps, March or October?

I agree that winter in Australia is a great time to visit. Why? Because prices are cheaper almost everywhere except the ski fields. And remember you can be snow skiing in the Southern Alps one day and be lying on a tropical island in Queensland the next. And the waters in North Qld are safe during winter (no stingers). Summer in Oz can be a lot of fun, but around Christmas and Easter especially prices go up all over the place.

Hi I live in Brisbane so i can tell you February is one of the cheapest time’s of year to come here, it’s our hottest month for the year so we don’t have so may tourists. your looking at temp of 38 degrees, so coming from southern CA, you should cope fine. June is the best time of year to be here it’s our winter, Brisbane winter is like spring every beautiful 23- 27d days and nights are about 12-15 degree’s so our weather is perfect, winter i when we have all our tourists so we have a lot happening between June and august.

    I hope this helps
